Water is the most used commodity by human beings. Measures have been put up to conserve its sources to ensure that it will always be available. Many have also invested on ways treating and purifying waste water. It is later used for other purposes such as irrigation. Septic tanks are among the items used to carry out this practice. There are maintenance tips put up to ensure that septic systems Queensland are operating at their best.

Those that are connected to this system in Tolga, QLD are advised to save on water usage. The tanks are made in such a way that they can only accommodate a certain amount of water at a time. They need time to separate the any waste from the water. This can be achieved through spacing laundry which is known to use a lot of water.

Most facilities comprise of some water fixtures installed on them. The authorities in Tolga, QLD advise its people to consider using low intake water fixtures. They should also be well installed and constantly repaired to ensure that no water leaks from them. This will ensure that the correct amount of it is drained to the tanks. Part of these fixtures includes shower heads and sinks.

The inlets leading to the septic tanks should be fitted with filters. This are used to collect solid materials which is not wanted in the tank. They also trap components such as human hair which can easily cause blockage in pipes. The filters have to be regularly cleaned to ovoid them blocking due to accumulation of these substances.

Heavy items should not be placed on top of these tanks at any time. Some will decide to build a parking lot on top of the system which is very dangerous. The heavy weights may lead to the pipes on the inside breaking. They may also cause the walls of the tank to get deformed or crack. Worse is when the entire tanks collapsed as a result of its walls not been in a position to withstand the weights.

Non-biodegradable materials should be avoided at all cost. At no time are they allowed to reach the system. They cause clogging in the septic tank thus reducing its efficiency. They include plastic bags, cigarette filters, latex, and feminine hygiene products among others. They may also kill bacteria that help in breaking down the solids.

The septic tank should never at any time be used as a waste disposal. Some of this waste may end up blocking the inlets and outlets. It may also be toxic and end contaminating the water more. In case it is used for this purpose, it is advisable that it be pumped out regularly to remove the waste from it. This will at least help in ensuring that the system is functioning as it should.

Septic systems are likely to get faulty at times. Repairs must be carried out to restore them into their normal state. Maintenance should also be carried out in the areas surrounding them. This includes cutting down of trees that grow near them since their roots may extend into the tans damaging them.
