Ambler PA Kids Gym Provides Sports Skills Development Programs That Have Invaluable Health Benefits

By Lance Aldinger

Classes in gymnastics are not only for the student who wants to enter competition, although that is always a possibility. It is a place and time for joining other classmates for fun and strenuous exercise. As any physician will confirm physical activity is healthy. Taking a class at Ambler PA Childrens Gymnastics provides healthy exercise that will develop control and flexibility in your child.

A child can develop confidence as she learns basic somersaults and cartwheels on a tumbling mat. All will receive plenty of encouragement and attention as they progress and improve their abilities. We welcome every child from toddler to teen.

The children are put into the appropriate class depending on age and ability. First the foundational skills are taught. They are introduced to the various pieces of equipment such as balance beam, vault and parallel bars. Floor exercise, with its dance moves and tumbling runs, is done on an Olympic quality floor mat.

Children may take hour long classes and later on ninety minute classes if they prefer. Some are girls only and some are co-ed at the younger ages. The boys and girls are taught separately when they prepare for competitions since each gender has different events.

Longer sessions of ninety minutes build physical strength and advanced skills. Spending extra time on the equipment such as parallel bars helps students who want to perfect their skills. These classes move at a fast pace under the direction of a professional instructor.

There are tumbling and trampoline classes. A special class can be arranged for a group of cheerleaders to learn back handsprings. The student serious about playing on any kind of sports team can benefit from strength training. Also, feeling in control of bodily movements is invaluable for soccer, football and baseball.

Flexibility developed by stretching is beneficial for runners. The student will develop endurance skills. Good control is required for individual sports such as golf or tennis. While gymnastics may be the focus in our classes the acquisition of physical control is an invaluable asset when competing in any sport.
