Endangered Animals Must Be Protected

By Pauline Bryant

The endangered animals are those threatened to becoming extinct. They're those that were once in large numbers in the wild, which are now losing a great number of members. The chief reasons for their reduction in population are environmental changes, predation factors, and general health considerations.

Most governments as well as other animal organizations came up with a process that categorizes endangered animals appropriately, due to varying levels. One category classifies the animals that are no longer visible within their natural habitat and need to be placed directly under a preservation program are classified as extinct-in-the-wild animals. Moreover, those that are no longer sighted in no less than Half a century are generally known as extinct. The endangered animals, however, are the ones that are within the protection of concerned entities to prevent extinction.

The change in the environment contributes to the waning number of the animals in the wild. The fast trend of modernization diminishes their natural habitat. Likewise, the highly-industrialized countries produce toxic materials. Some irresponsible industries are dumping their waste products indiscriminately, which contaminate the ecosystem.

Moreover, due to the lessening food supplies for these animals in the wild, there is a strong competition over the survival-instinct. They tend to attack each other affecting their propagation that leads to their extinction.

In addition, the health condition of the animals in the wild is being threatened because of the above factors. The lack of food due to the destruction made by the fast urbanization, and the rise of industrial nations are causing the health condition of these animals to deteriorate rapidly. Reproductive system is inhibited as well as their life-span diminished.

However, many countries have put in place a number of laws, rules and regulations that protect endangered animals. Some of them have even been placed under conservation initiatives in their natural habitat or in a facility. Nonetheless, no matter how hard conservationists around the globe try to find and execute different methods to protect wildlife, not enough has been done to save the situation.

People as well as governments have come with diversified protection strategies, some of which have worked and others have failed.

Most countries get a lot of proceeds from certain species, which are now endangered by increasing human activity brought about by an ever-increasing population. We need to do our share to protect wildlife so that we can continue to benefit from them in terms of the biosphere's survival as well as diversity.
