Why Should You Clean With Green Cleaners?

By Jaydon L. Kris

If you have ever visited the cleaning isle at your local grocery store, you undoubtedly have seen all different kinds of cleaning product brands, including green cleaners. Many people often avoid the green products and pick up the most popular chemical based product that they can find due to their promise of fast action and easy cleaning. However, the decision to do this may actually be a bad one that could potentially hurt you and your family.

When popular chemical based cleaning products are used they give off a particular smell that often leads to nasal or lung irritation. This smell is actually a mixture of the chemicals and the fragrance that the manufacturer adds to mask those chemicals. Chemicals in these products are often the culprits for causing asthma flare ups as well as for causing headaches to manifest; however, green cleaners do not have these kinds of effects when they are in use. In addition, most people are aware that women who are pregnant should not be exposed to harsh chemicals found in cleaning supplies because her baby's growth can be impacted but natural cleaners are the safe option for soon to be moms because they do not pose the same risk.

If you have ever cleaned your counters with chemical cleaners, have you ever considered what the results could be? Of course, when you use these cleaners the smell might deceive you into thinking that your countertop is so clean that you can eat off of it. Yes, the cleaner does kill of all bacteria that may be present on your counter but where does the cleaner go after it has been placed on the surface? Those chemical residues that remain on the counter get absorbed by every item of food that gets placed on it. Then those chemicals end up in your body or inside of the rest of your family.

You may be questioning what the concern is regarding ingesting these types of chemicals. Despite that they worsen respiratory problems, allergies, and headaches they can also create more serious health problems such as cancer. The chemicals are able to do this because they are capable of damaging the DNA in your body to create many diverse kinds of mutations that will all have a varying effect on your body.

When you use green cleaners you do not have to be concerned about any of these effects since the majority of natural cleaners are created from plant based ingredients. Many of these ingredients are often found in the foods that you eat so you do not have to be concerned about them causing damage to your DNA if you accidentally ingest them by placing your food on your freshly cleaned countertop. Also, with natural cleaning products you do not have to worry about jeopardizing your children, your pets, or yourself.
