The Flag Company Inc Through The History Of Alabama University

The University of Alabama, the state of Alabama's oldest public university, is a senior comprehensive doctoral-level institution. The University was established by the constitutional provision under statutory mandates and authorizations. Its mission is to advance the intellectual and social condition of the people of the state through quality programs of teaching, research and service.

In August 1819, the board of trustees met to begin the task of planning the new university, which was created through an act of the Alabama legislature on December 18, 1820. Tuscaloosa was selected as the location for the new university from a field of competitors on December 29, 1827. The state purchased land just outside the city limits for the campus the following spring, and the school opened three years, later, on, April 18, 1831. Situated on 1,000 acres originally a mile from Tuscaloosa, the campus was designed by the state architect, William Nichols. By 1863, six buildings and four residence halls had been constructed.

Since 1831, The University of Alabama has been committed to supporting the aspirations of its students. That commitment is reflected in an educational experience that demonstrates an unwavering commitment to teaching excellence, the advancement of scholarship and service to society. The University of Alabama is often referred to as "The Capstone" by alumni and friends of the university. "The Capstone" is a nickname for The University of Alabama coined by former UA President G. H. Denny when he referred to the University as the "capstone of the public school system of the state" in 1913. Capstone means 'the top stone or high point.'

Following 1831, The University of Alabama has been focused on supporting the yearnings of its students. That dedication is reflected in an instructive affair that exhibits a faithful responsibility to teaching excellence, the advancement of scholarship and service to society.

Today enrollment at The University of Alabama went to a record high of 37,100 for fall 2015. The entering class, at 7,211 students, is the greatest and best qualified in UA history. More than 33% of the first year initiate class scored 30 or higher on the ACT, setting them in the fundamental 5 percent of students taking the ACT.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Alabama University flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc specialized in flag designs offered a special edition of decals and flags to memorize the history of Alabama University flag for the future.
