Learn More About Environmental Conservation Foundation

By Virginia West

Generally, environmental protection refers to the practice of protecting any natural environment at an individual, organizational or governmental level so that humans and the environment itself can benefit. As a result of pressure from overconsumption, growth in population as well as technology, there has been a continued degradation of the biophysical environment even to permanent levels. Nevertheless, these adverse effects have been noted and has encouraged the development of the Environmental Conservation Foundation.

Such foundations have been in existence for a number of years and their motives being to defend the conservation of biodiversity. Additionally, the government via such foundations is able to implement limits to the actions that are consequence of degradation of our environment. Awareness creation on the issues touching on the environment remains crucial. It is for this reason that such support is initiate to create and implement sensitization programs.

Individuals, governments, and organizations in many circumstances never reach a consensus on what should be classified as environmental degradation, and how human activities have affected the natural environment. The extent to which degradation has occurred however seems practical or even felt like in the case of decertification and global warming. Such effects can only be prevented through initiatives where individuals directly take part in the activities offered by ecological protection agencies or foundations.

To begin with, there are engagements through voluntary agreements. This offers a platform through which companies that observe the minimum standards of environment regulations are rewarded for their support to developing best practices in conservation. Such agreements generally will remedy some substantial levels of noncompliance to the set regulations. However, this presents a challenge in terms of effective monitoring and even reporting on environmental conservation efforts.

Another means is the ecosystems approach. This offers an integrated means to handling our environment as opposed to targeting a specific challenge or issue. The approach as well management brings different stakeholders from the government, conservation foundations or other institutions to take part in decision making.

These environmental conservation and protection efforts can also be addressed through international ecological treaties. These treaties are meant to help protect vulnerable resources from destruction by man. To that effect, many countries and states do sign treaties aimed at reducing or preventing further damages on the environment. Such treaties mainly touch on the protection of lakes, rivers, oceans or air. Since they are legally binding, such treaties have penalties to countries that failure to comply.

In many instances, environment conservation or protection discussions usually focus on the role played by the government and legislations. However, in a broader sense, protecting the environment remains a responsibility of every individual and not just the government. Decisions that have an impact on our environment will generally engage a number of stakeholders including community representatives and indigenous groups so that the opinions of these various stakeholders is incorporated.

Actually, providing protection to our environment should not be left solely to the government and its agencies. The agencies are generally perceived as prime to the establishment and maintenance of basic conservation standards and for the individuals residing in a given place. Nevertheless, a foundation on conserving the environment may be initiated by any person.
