Significance Of Conserving And Protecting Natural Resources

By Dennis Brooks

Forces in nature have led to the creation of both renewable and non-renewable materials and substances that are self-existence. They are formed without any human intervention. With time and depending on how they are used, they become depleted and finally extinct. Efforts must, therefore, be taken to manage the use of this resources that are limited in nature for the sake of generations to come. Discussed here are the reasons for conserving and protecting natural resources.

To enable continued fuel production and power availability. Power is critical to the realization of economic growth by a country. It is used for the day to day running of industrial plants involved in manufacturing and processing of raw materials into finished products. It is also a key element for cooking, lighting, and warming for purposes of encouraging a life of humans. And in operation of machinery and equipment that make work easier.

They serve as catchment sites for water. Animal and human body functioning and cellular activities require sufficient water supply. Forests and trees are critical in ensuring continued source of water. They help in forming rainfall, preventing excessive evaporation of ground water and protects river tributaries.

For food supply maintenance for both humankind and animals of the wild. Animals feed on free growing vegetation that is found on the fertile soils on the earth surface. Humans plant, weed, tend and harvest crops in grounds that are fertile of simply slaughter and animal for the meat. Where there is no food, alternative supply must be sort or hunger-related loss of life cannot be stopped.

Creation of both salaries and self-employment opportunities. Jobs allows people to make their money and earn their daily bread. They have no reason to rely on the government for help. They become reliable members of the community and contribute significantly to the national gross domestic income. Conservation work, forest guarding and charcoal dealers are some of the jobs created by the availability of resources.

Prevention of global warming. Extinction of vegetation through agricultural and deforestation leads to the destruction of the protective ozone layer. This is a result of insufficient carbon IV oxide gas that facilitates its formation. Its destruction causes increased temperatures in the universe that cause excessive melting of ice thus the raising sea level and hunger and famine as a result of the drought.

To preserve attraction sites for tourist. Natural resources act as sites of tourist destination who seek to experience and explore the beauty and fauna in these areas. Through tourism, international integration and cooperation between nations are achieved as a result of community interaction with visitors. This results in the realization of worldwide peace and gives an opportunity for local communities to market their culture. They are a source of foreign exchange. For a country to strengthen its currency in the international market, then it must obtain foreign currency through trade. Crude oil, wood, and natural gas when exploited are usually exported to different countries through trade agreements in exchange for foreign currency.

Provision of home for wildlife. A country wildlife is a national pride and a source of revenue and capital through charges incurred by those wishing to view them. Land and marine animal need protection and sufficient land allocation to multiply.
