Taking Advantage Of Crane Rentals Will Help You Save Money And Trouble

By Glen Martin

When you are beginning that large, or even that small construction project, you have to have everything lined up at the right time. You need all of the trades scheduled in. You need to have a dumpster for trash and debris. You even need to call a professional cleaning company to be present. One of the most important things you need to have available is a crane to move everything into place when it is needed. That is when you should really consider contacting a company who deals with crane rentals.

Many general contractors will go out a buy all of this gear. The are reasons that this may not be the best decision. It is because of the larger than needed costs in the purchase and maintenance. It would be a better choice, if possible, to rent everything you are going to need.

One of the reasons that rentals are the best way to go is the expensive price tag on most heavy equipment. It ties up a lot of capital and sits around a good portion of the time. It can be bought on credit, of course, and that reduces the flexibility you, as a building contractor needs moving forward.

Buying a crane will not only cost you for the piece, itself, but you will then have to hire an operator that is trained on that gear. This means, of course, all of the many employee expenses that are required by law and custom. By renting it, the operator comes with the package. They know this piece and works for you to complete your project on your time line.

Another issue with buying all of that equipment is the need for a maintenance person or crew needed to keep it operating properly. That is also another full time person to handle anything that comes up with the machine. This can be a very large expense for daily checks and preventative maintenance. When you rent the equipment, the maintenance is handled by the company renting it to you.

When something breaks on this equipment, it is usually very expensive to replace. This means many parts will either have to be on hand or available close by. The other problem is that, while the machine is down, you are left with a crew of people ho can not work. This could cause problems with your schedule and may incur fines. Rentals are repaired by their owners.

An issue with equipment, such as cranes that you buy, present problems when the project is finished. You must store it somewhere and it still must be maintained as it can not simply set idle. The building or renting of a storage facility can cost more than being able to call the rental company and having them come and pick it up.

Finding the right company to rent a crane will take some research. The right company will have references from other building professionals. You can check with many of these firms to see what they have and what you can get when you need it. This is one of the best pieces to keep you on track and on time.
