All About Eco Friendly Buildings

By Vernie S. Dixon

With the world taking the eco friendly route, green buildings are hot in the present day eventuality. These days, almost all of the new buildings are made not forgetting their equation with the environment. But, how do you know if the building you are choosing is green or not? Well, there are certain basic preliminaries that will help you gauge if your building is in synchronization with the environment.

The locale of the building is a dead giveaway of its environment-safe desires. A 'green construction' will be located in punctiliously selected surroundings and areas. They're customarily not built in naturally delicate ecosystems like groundwater recharge sectors, old forest growths or wetlands. Instead, they're usually assembled in areas that've been subject to damage by pollution or business waste.

Nominal energy use is another hallmark of green buildings. These buildings often use alternative energies like geothermal energy and solar power to meet their energy requirements. Almost all of a building's energy requirements are related to HVAC i.e. Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning. These energy requirements can be cut down by moderating thermostat, using appliances with an energy star certification & choosing insulating windows. If you are going in for a green office, you can choose printers that use less power.

The material with which the green building is made, must be given due consideration too. A building is green only if the building material that is used can be recycled. These buildings are also made from the leftover architectural waste. The other materials that are used must be non-toxic. If you need insulation, you can use materials like bamboo, cork, straw bales and other similar things.

There are some indoor contaminants that prevent a building from being green. And, there are studies to show that indoor contaminants can be more damaging than the out of doors pollutants like air. The indoor contaminants are Variable Organic Compounds ( VOCs ) that are released by paints, synthesised paints and carpets. These pollutants pose a great health threat to folk who come into contact with them. Some chemicals are known to trigger skin conditions like acne. But, this can be treated with the help of products like Zenmed Derma Cleanse System.

Even if you're not living in an environment friendly building ; there are tactics and ways in which you can enhance your home to suit eco friendly standards. Nonetheless if you're moving into a new building for either residential or official purposes, do ensure it's of the 'green' variety. Check for the previously mentioned features to verify the same.
