The Basic Steps For Raccoon Removal Before Consulting An Expert

By Jocelyn Davidson

North American Raccoons has been one of the really invasive species in parts of Central and North America. They are painfully omnivorous and will eat anything that is left edible enough in your yard. They cause most of the mess that greets you early in the morning since they are nocturnal animals.

Originally, Raccoons were cultured and hunted for their fur, but due to their fast adaptability in their environment, they have gone out of hand with their population and caused an unbalance to the natural habitat of other species. One of the areas they have been bothering is in Rolling Hills, California. In raccoon removal Rolling Hills proved to be a challenge for the community.

There are offers from some pest control agencies in using sound waves to irritate the hearing of the animals, preventing them from going further. It is a variation of an alarm system with infrared detector to set off the sound waves with frequencies 14 up until 25 megahertz. But this is just a not so practical way of doing it. You still have quite a few options.

Keeping your yard clean and free from leftovers would be a good start. Any food lying around would entice them to invade your yard, so it is best practice to clean up often. Pet foods, meat bits from outdoor barbecues, and even wrappers from junk food. Clean them all up and leave nothing that can easily be scavenged.

Double bagging your food waste would prevent it from smelling, thus preventing the raccoons from finding out if there is food in it. But even if they do find out, you can place a lid over the bin and top off a huge rock or brick so they cannot even get to it. Your waste should be secured and regularly disposed as well.

Keeping all doors, including pet doors, and windows properly locked would prevent them from getting in, naturally. Regardless of their attempts, it would soon discourage them. Trimming branches that go near your attic also prevents them from living there. If they have already been living there, you are in for a great surprise.

If you do find out that they are now living in the attic, don't force the out by yourself, especially when mating season has already passed and they have little raccoons born there. They could be very aggressive and you need to reach animal control for this sort of situation.

Another thing you can do is mix in some spices to turn into a spray. Finely slice up some Jalape's along with yellow onion and cayenne powder. Boil them with 7 cups of water and strain them into a bottle spray. You can also try any super spicy sauce like Tabasco and mixed with detergent soap and a gallon of water. Apply these on your fences or plants to prevent them even going near your yard.

You can also set traps. Although do this with caution in terms of legal matters in your state, especially with what to do with the trapped raccoon and if you need to dispose them or relocate them. If the above mentioned did not work for one reason or another, get in touch with your wildlife or animal control experts.
