Does Green Living Have to be Hard?

By Anne Brewer

Many individuals feel that it will be unreasonably hard to alter their lifestyle and be more environmentally friendly. Realistically, you can cut down your carbon footprint and help the environment by merely integrating a few simple changes into your life.

An easy way to live greener is to be sure that you unplug all electric gadgets when you're not using them. Regardless of what you have been told, even if something is turned off, it still uses a small amount of electricity which can all contribute to a higher energy usage. Although you may find it tough, eventually you will be able to do it without thinking and in the process save yourself a considerable amount of money.

When you go to the grocery store and use bags to carry your purchases, try to keep the bags once the food have been taken out. When you return to the store to shop some more, bring those bags with you. By doing this, you won't have to use as many bags every month which reduces the amount of scrap going into the landfill and can save you money on bag purchases. Keep in mind that you can easily use these bags to take other items from place to place.

You can further lower your carbon footprint by not using your car frequently. Try walking or carpooling whenever you can unless it's essential that you drive to a certain location. If you drive the car infrequently you will not only be bringing down the amount of pollution created but also saving money. This is one area where you can unquestionably save a lot of the money you spend on fuel fuel costs.

While you can decrease pollution with several methods, one area you should think about is the use of plastic water bottles. The water inside these plastic bottles may be better than tap water but they cause a considerable amount of pollution as they are normally thrown away after only being used one time. Go ahead and drink bottled water if it's really necessary. It's a terrific idea, however, to recycle the bottles as much as possible. Perhaps you ask how. You can get a water filter that you can use in your water bottles and you can put water bottles in the refrigerator for the next use. As with the other examples given earlier, doing this will save you money while lessening the amount of pollution and impact on the ecoysystem.

On the whole, it's easy to see that making some of these little changes can help you to reduce your expenses--and it makes you more earth friendly. So definitely, green living is relatively simple if you are resolved to take the first step.
