There are excellent reasons that using green energy keeps gaining in popularity. Living green has an unlimited number of environmental and monetary benefits. In this article you can learn more about going green, and what things you can do to convert your lifestyle into a more green and eco friendly place straight away.

You can make a difference and save energy simply by taking steps to use less energy every day. Unplug appliances when you're not using them. Always turn off the television and lights when you are not using them. This is an excellent way of saving you some money.

Start paying attention to your energy consumption. Unplug the charger for your iPod and Xbox when they are not in use. All the chargers you use for mp3 players, cell phones, laptops and any other devices draw in some charge when they're plugged in and aren't being used.

Are you living on a farm? If so, you can rent some property to energy companies for installing wind turbines. Not only will the turbine use minimal land, it can provide you with free energy.

Use window treatments to shade the inside of your home when you aren't home. These help your home remain cool and keep your energy bill down when you are not there. South-facing windows get maximum sun. Think about covering all of your windows with different types of shades and curtains.

Try drying your laundry outside in the sun whenever possible, rather than using a dryer. The sun can really make your clothes smell incredible. Laundry will smell fresher and cleaner, much more so than when they were in the dryer. Additionally, you will save both money and energy.

It is important that if you take advantage of a dishwasher, that you only use it when you have a full load. A half load uses the exact same amount of water and energy as a full one. Try using the energy-saving air-drying setting on your dishwasher.

Now that you know how to better use green energy in your home, you will soon reap all the benefits. Remember that green energy is beneficial for both you and the environment. Use what you've learned today and you'll be amazed at how easy going green was!
