The two positions are, either fully closed or completely open.

A sampling valve remains shut and only opens when a sample needs to be taken. An emergency shutdown valve stays open whenever machines are functioning and it shuts automatically when power is switched off. This kind of regulator is important as it cuts off electrical energy in a system in case of a problem preventing any possible fire or damage. Possible problems are leakages in fluid systems.

Like other parts of a machine, regulators should be taken good care of. One can prolong the lifespan of a valve by ensuring it is well set. A wrongly positioned valve tends to wear out faster and may not function efficiently. Every valve must be felt for its condition using the proper tool during repairs and inspection and of systems.

For safety purposes, every valve gets rated for the highest temperature and pressure it can withstand before leaving the production company. One should insist on genuine commodities in all applications, since fake items can be flawed and dangerous to use.
